"The Umami Tsunami"
In this corner, weighing in at next to nothing, it's the one, the only, Umami Tsunami! Get ready for a wave of savoury flavour! Watch it give the old "one-two", with its delicious, meaty texture, followed quickly by its full-bodied, smoky taste. It's so hearty and robust, it can really take a lot of heat. It's no wonder the Shiitake is such a winner!
Our favourite way to enjoy these is to drizzle the caps with olive oil and roast them in the oven at 350°F until soft, then serve them with bread and cheese. These incredibly versatile mushrooms can be a great addition to pretty much any savoury dish calling for mushrooms, including soups, sauces, lasagnas, casseroles, shepherd's pies, egg dishes - the list goes on! Store them in a paper bag in your fridge for a week or more.
